Nursing informatics manages, defines, identifies, and communicates information within a medical institution. Integration of nursing and information technology aims at improving the quality of healthcare services and experience. I set up a virtual meeting with one nursing informatics specialist from a Health Solutions Company to get a clear insight into the field and what it takes to be nursing informatics. The specialist chosen is a supervisor and has a masters degree in Nursing Informatics, he is a great expert in the field. Additionally, he has worked at the bedside for 13 years and as a Nursing Informatics Specialist (NI) for 7 years. This essay will be an interview with a nursing informatics specialist aiming to understand the field better. The first question was what brought the specialist into using informatics. After completing his BSN and having worked at the bedside nurse for 13 years, he noticed that his colleagues would always look for him to fix technical problems for which he was good at.
