Conflict_Benchmark___2_.docx(1) COM- 312 Conflict Benchmark Human interactions can definitely be influenced by conflict. Whether the conflict is productive or destructive, communication is the “vehicle†for it (Hocker and Wilmot, 2017). This is very important to understand because the way that conflict and communication are connected refers to the way that one communicates during a conflict which can dictate the path that the conflict moves toward. Depending on the way one communicates, the conflict can become productive or destructive. For me personally, a conflict that I have recently experienced was between me and my roommates. I am a pretty busy person and I am usually up early most days and I make sure to be considerate of all my roommates when they are still sleeping. However, I have one roommate who does not share the same idea of being considerate to the rest of us. She does not seem to care if any of us are sleeping or if we need some quiet to get work done. My other roommates have also spoken to me about it and shared how it makes them feel that she seems to be so inconsiderate. She will slam doors in the morning as well as be on facetime with her boyfriend all night with the volume all the way up so we can hear everything he says throughout the apartment. She will also be very loud at night even if one of us is trying to go to bed early.
