When dual relationships happen with clients as well as professionals there will be some moral issues that may arise such as legal concerns. In this paper the discussion will concentrate on working as a counselor and the ethical boundaries that can become involved. Boundary issues and dual relationships According to Krishnaram, Aravind, & Thasneem (2012), when inappropriate boundary crossings are able to be disguised and can cause harm to a client. Some examples of inappropriate boundary crossings would be physical violations, and sexual violations. Also, when a clinician and a client bring together a unprofessional relationship with a professional relationship then moral actions need to be made. (Kurpad, Machado, Galgali, & Daniel, 2012). Before the clinician decides if a line has been crossed in a dual relationship is by referring to the American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics helps Clinicians understand what is right and wrong (American Counseling Association [ACA], 2014).
