Crime_Statistics_Paper_620.docx(1) PSY 620 Crime Statistics Grand Canyon University, PSY 620 The crime data reports from Alabama are obtained from incident-based reports and summary reports. In 2019, the crime statistics for Alabama were gathered from 352 law enforcement agencies within the state. There are a total of 430 law enforcement agencies in Alabama (UCR, 2021). In the year of 2019 there were 114 offenses reported in Alabama. 111 of those were violent crimes. This number may seem low because the statistics were submitted by one law enforcement agency in the state (UCR, 2021). In 2019, the rate of all violent crime offenses began at 450.1. Then they dropped by 2010 to 383.7. By the year of 2012, the rate was back up to 450.3. In 2014 it decreased a bit to 427.7. When 2016 came around it increased tremendously to 532.4. Today, it has settled at 510.8 (UCR, 2021). The weapons involved in these crimes include personal weapons, handguns, knives, fire, and others. The most used according to the data is personal weapons. Violent crimes consist of four different offenses (UCR, 2021). These offenses include murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. They also include the use of force or threats. The data collected represents the hierarchy rule. This rule allows only the most serious violent crimes to be counted or recorded for statistics. The four violent crimes, plus property crimes such as burglary, larceny, theft, and motor vehicle theft (UCR, 2021).. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
