She explained ... strategies she/district employs to differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the learning needs of all students through the effective use of a Strategy within Listening, Speaking, and Vocabulary Development. These strategies are Academic Conversations and 3 Ls Framework. Mrs. Burns gives her students opportunities to participate in Academic Conversations as often as possible. Academic conversations are purposeful, sustained conversations about content and school topics. They require students to work together to co-construct knowledge and negotiate meaning in order to attain high levels of thinking and deep understanding about a topic. Academic Conversations occur between two or more people trying to learn from one another and build meaning they didnt have before. She also gave me the Metro Nashville guidelines on Academic Conversations.
