The website for this organization is www.schoolcounselor.org. There are two major publications available for members of this organization. The first is the œSchool Counselor magazine. This magazine offers advice and information that may be helpful for problems that school counselors are likely to encounter in their daily lives. ASCA™s second publication is the œProfessional School Counseling journal. This is a peer reviewed journal that publishes scholarly articles based on theory and research. There are a few different types of membership that are available for ASCA, including professional, retired, student, and affiliate membership types. In order to be eligible for professional membership, an individual must have a master™s degree (or higher) in counseling, be credentialed as a school counselor in the state they practice, or be employed as a counselor educator in a graduate program for school counseling candidates. The membership dues for a professional membership are $129 per year. The retired membership requirements are the same as the professional requirements, but allow for the member to be retired and not currently employed as a school counselor. The fees for this membership type are $69 per year.
