Week_2__Community_Relations_Paper___final.docx(1) ELAD 7003 Community Relations Survey College of Education & Behavioral Science, Arkansas State University ELAD 7003 School & Community Relations Community Relations The Miami-Dade County Public School District (MDCPS) is located in Miami, Florida. It is the fourth largest school district in the nation. MDCPS serves over 340,000 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to twelfth grade and it employs over 17,000 teachers. These students and teachers are spread across 450 school campuses. The Miami-Dade Public School District is a melting pot of various cultures and ethnicities. An example of this diversity is that over 50 languages, other than English, are spoken in our student™s homes. Some of the prominent languages spoken are Spanish, Haitian Creole and Portuguese. Aside from language, the school district™s population is a multicultural mosaic in many other aspects as well. For the purpose of this assignment, five community members were selected who differ in their age, race, occupation, religious affiliation, and/or economic status. They were all asked a series of questions regarding school and community relations. The following is a summary of their responses. Participants The following diverse group of individuals were chosen to participate in the Community Relations Survey distributed on January 20th, 2021. The results were collected by January 27th, 2021 through personal interviews, e-mail responses and telephone communication.
