BUS 210 Module Two Assignment.docx BUS 210 Managing/Leading in Business Southern New Hampshire University Module 2 Assignment “ Management Approaches Dear Director of Retail Operations, The problem at hand that I have been asked to resolve is with the employees at our SNHU Pet Supply Company retail location. Many employees have expressed they feel micromanaged, that their specific skill sets are not being utilized appropriately and that they are under a lot of stress to meet the managers demands. I have a proposal I would like you to see to possibly implement some different management approaches that may assist in making work easier not just for the managers, but even more so the employees. The general functions of management include planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Within the planning stage, managers commonly establish organizational goals and then come up with a plan to achieve them. In the organizing phase, resources are distributed appropriately to personnel to achieve the goals established in the planning stage. In the leading stage, management is to motivate employees so the behavior becomes positive to achieve the organizational goals. The controlling stage includes monitoring the execution of the plan and making adjustments accordingly to ensure the goals are being met. Using productive and established management skills and resources can optimize employee morale as well as want them to work for the managers that are over them.
