CJA 474 Case Study week 4.doc Running Head: Case Study 1 CJA/474 Case Study CJA/474: Managing Criminal Justice Personnel 1. What type of conflict is described in the case study? The type of conflict which is described in the case study is known as inter-organizational conflict. According to the survey, different cities within the same county came together to form one unit with the exact cause: searching, finding out, and destroying all the secret laboratories producing crystal Methedrine. The conflicts started when some cities were not happy because of how the plan of supervising and budgeting for the unit was made. Other towns also felt that large cities were imposing themselves onto others that are small and sought a high control over this created unit. Three cities that are considered the largest within the county had a great desire to take a larger role in how the department operates its activities because these possessed more resources to contribute to the unit than other cities. Therefore, such an environment with different conflicting parties though with one aim is inter-organizational conflict (Harmon, Kim, & Mayer, 2015). 2. Multi-jurisdictional drug units are standard across the country. What issues should be discussed and by whom before such a team is created? Before creating a unit of such a kind, the planners should observe whether this formation is necessary. What should be examined first is the present situation of drug production and consumption.
