An example of past trends pertaining to the development and operation of community-based corrections is overcrowding of the prison population. Overcrowding has consistently been a problem throughout the past years, officials have searched for ways to reduce overcrowding, now with the pandemic going on inmates are being released that have misdemeanors and minor charges. Hopefully, that should help with the overcrowding of the prison system. How does institutional corrections and community corrections differ in relation to operations and development? TheÂ differenceÂ betweenÂ institutionalÂ andÂ community correctionsÂ is thatÂ institutional correctionsÂ is when offenders are being supervised in anÂ institutionÂ (jails andÂ prisons) whileÂ communitycorrectionsÂ is when the offender is being supervised outside of anÂ institutionÂ such as probation and parole. How can we improve the development and operation of corrections by utilizing past, current, and future trends? We can improve the development and operation of corrections by utilizing past, current, and future trends is by remaining open minded and clear headed to fresher conclusions on ways to improve.
