Critical_Thinking_Pa.edited.docx Critical Thinking Paper ITI680 Critical Thinking Paper For the past two weeks, I have been learning about the importance of critical thinking and how it plays a role in who I am going to be as a teacher. I have spent a lot of time researching and reading articles about subjects that are of any interest to me. When reflecting on the aspects of critical theory and my interest I have realized that Social-emotional skills not only improve academic outcomes and classroom behavior for students. They can also have a positive impact on our own personal and professional success as educators. My classroom and students need to have certain aspects in place to benefit the most from Social-Emotional Learning. Critical theory in education is about questioning how our educational system can best offer education to all people. As an educator this is something, we should all do because it can highlight opportunities and understanding of the different perspective of disadvantaged students in the education system.Critical thinking is very important to me as an educator as it plays a key role in what I am teaching which is Social-Emotional Learning. An aspect of critical thinking that is needed in Social-emotional learning that, many students lack is the skill of reflection. One study shows that 70 percent of students who drop out of school do so not because they cannot do the work.
