South Jersey Health Center started using an information system called Cerner in 2018. Cerner is an electronic medical record database which offers a full range of skills. Cerner allows the ability to store and access patient medical records in both inpatient and outpatient healthcare setting. Cerner and Patient Care Cerner has multiple core programs that make up the system. These programs include SurgiNet, FirstNet, and PowerChart which are utilized in different specialties areas if the facility. FirstNet is the program used by the emergency room when a patient is considered outpatient. Once the patient has transitioned to inpatient, PowerChart is then utilized by staff. SurgiNet is used in the operating rooms as well as the surgical units. All of the programs communicate with one another, allowing for medical staff to have access to all patient records from the start of their hospital stay. Being a medical professional that frequently works with Cerner, it is very task oriented for the nursing staff.
