Medication_Selection_and_Ethical_Issues_.edited.docx PSY7330 Medication Selection and Ethical Issues PSY7330 Capella University Abstract This paper will explain what should and shouldn™t be present on a Psychotropic Medication Recommendation form letter, a hypothetical client who will be prescribed a medication for generalized anxiety disorder, and the reason for the medication choice. Lastly, a brief letter explaining why I believe this medication will be a good fit for my hypothetical client. Part 1: Mock Letter Evaluation Upon reviewing the Mock medication form letter, there are different components needed for the patient to access their prescription. Looking at the APA™s code of conduct, I determined what was important and what was unethical. I found that including who the physician is making out the recommendation was important”providing when the medication will begin and when the next visit will be. Though there were essential components, there were also elements within the letter that did not meet the ethical guidelines. The first is that there isn™t anything showing that the client is aware of the medication form, such as a client's signature. The form has the patient's social security number, which is violating 3.10 Informed consent. Another issue present is that there is a note mentioning that Chris Doe has taken a course on prescribing medication on the mock form. He™s also stating his opinion about how necessary medication is, violating clause 5.01 Avoidance of False or Deceptive Stat. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
