ORGSYS8.docx B. Process Improvement Plan ï‚·Staff members will need to be properly trained on handling and monitoring patients who are undergoing post-anesthesia care. ï‚·Patients need to be able to be centrally monitored so that when alarms are sounding, there will need to be someone at a central location in the ED that can see and hear it. Mr. B was only being monitored at the bedside however, there was no medical professional present at the bedside at all times. ï‚·Leadership and management need to meet to determine if the current staffing grid is suitable for dealing with emergent patients. Are there enough staff available to handle multiple emergencies at once? ï‚·Training should be done quarterly or annually to ensure that staff members maintain competence in adhering to the anesthesia policy. ï‚·After receiving training, staff should do test drills and simulations should be ran to ensure that staff respond properly and have received adequate training. ï‚·The hospital may need to install a central monitoring area the nurses station to monitor patients O2, heart rate, and blood pressure. Additional staff may need to be hired to monitor this station at all times. ï‚·Since this is a small hospital, leadership should compare their current policies and procedures to that of a larger hospital. This will help determine if the current policy needs revision. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
