Learning Outcomes As described in previous papers, the critical care nurse residency program as a whole will be designed to be relatively informal and will be structured in a way that will promote mentoring and coaching just as much as or more than actual instruction. However, identifying learning outcomes is still beneficial and even necessary as they help to define the practical aspects of what the course should look like, help to determine which teaching strategies are the best fit, and help to evaluate and update the course on an ongoing basis (Wittman-Price, 2010).
