But there is always an opportunity for an improvement in policy and guidelines. These policies and guidelines help navigate interprofessional team members to carry the highest quality of care. A dashboard is a tool that contains information regarding specific areas. And dashboard helps compare if the target has been met or not that has been set by federal, local, or state benchmarks. For example, a number of foot exams done on the patient, and a number of Hgb A1C tests done on the patient. But these number does not reflect the whole picture. Theres a lot that goes on in the process of getting these numbers. According to the dashboard, these two areas were concerning because, over time, there was a significant drop in the number of tests or exams that were performed on the patients. Thus, this policy proposal explanation will help define the process of how to get the highest number of foot exams and Hgb A1C tests done on a patient via evidence-based practice while providing the highest quality of care. Explaining the Need for Policy According to the Mercy Medical Center Diabetes dashboard, foot exams and Hgb A1C tests were performed less and less over time. Mercy Medical Center performed 73-foot exams in Q1 of 2019.
