The patients information must be safeguarded, all the time. As patients enter the office for their visit, they are checked in at the front desk where personal identifiable information can be easily seen or left out for public viewing. Office staff personnel are required to complete an annual HIPPA training class, everyone is expected to follow the requirements set by HIPPA compliance guidelines. We must work together to ensure that the patients information is protected and properly stored as required by the guidelines. A HIPPA violation has the potential to cost the company thousands of dollars if found liable (Tips for small covered entities charged with HIPPA compliance, 2016). This type of violation could cost each of us our jobs and could go on our permanent work record. These requirements and guidelines set by HIPPA must be implemented in the workplace, always for the staffs protection regarding the possible liability.
