These indicators give insight to the overall health of the company and include three attributes to each indicator including frequency of data, the relation to the business cycle and timing. The key indicators outlined below show each indicators influence in Amazons business decisions and overall companys health. Employment Situation- The current unemployment rate for the year 2020 has remained unchanged since the beginning of the year at 6.7%. The decline in payroll employment reflects the increase in COVID-19 cases and job losses in leisure, hospitality, and private education have partially offset the gains in professional and business services, retail trade, and construction. (Employment Situation Summary, 2021). The table below outlines the employed and unemployed persons by occupation. Amazon has been deemed a “job killer†however, in recent years Amazon has boosted local employment and businesses. With the global pandemic caused by COVID-19 having a devastating impact on the U.S. economy and the push for more online sales and caused an need in employment recruitment to fulfill the demand of online orders.
