Then one must connect tunneled VPN traffic with non-tunneled traffic using pfSense. As mentioned, the first step of this lab is to create a secure tunnel to an IPsec server through pfSense. It is important to create a secure tunnel to ensure no one can intercept communication within a VPN. Another important step in this lab was the certification step. This is important because without certification you will not be able to authenticate with the server. Something I learned in this lab was Microsoft defaults all traffic through the VPN server which is why it is necessary to split the local traffic from the packets destined for the remote network. This is called split tunneling. If the packets are not split the network will become confused and connections will not go through. I really enjoyed this lab. I really felt like I understood every step and why I was doing what I was doing in this lab. I really flew through this lab making me feel like I was missing something. I especially enjoyed typing command prompt commands connecting IPsec using the split tunnel. I always enjoy command prompt for some reason. It makes me feel like I am really working a cybersecurity job.
