IT213__Unit10.docx IT213 Unit 10 Assignment Purdue University Global IT213- Software Development Concepts In this paper, we will focus on the testing stage and its four levels. The four levels of testing are Unit testing, Integration testing, system testing, acceptance testing. We will discuss each level in detail. Unit testing or Component testing is the level where individual units or components of a software are tested to ensure that these components function as intended. A unit is the smallest testable part of the software and it usually has one or more inputs with a single output. The unit can be as small as a single method that belongs to a base class or a child class in object-oriented programming. In procedural/structural programming the unit can be an individual program or function or procedure. Unit testing is usually performed by the developers themselves or sometimes an independent software tester. It is done normally after coding, though sometimes tests can be written before the development phase, for instance in Test-Driven Development (TDD). In unit testing, the white box testing method is used. The method involves testing the internal structure of the software product, this means beyond the user interface and into the details of the product (Lewis, n.d.). The tester chooses inputs to verify paths in the code and determine the appropriate output. In unit testing, mocks or fake objects, stubs and, drivers are used. Mocks are usually used when the test involves interact. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
