She feels depressed because she is overweight and the lack of intimacy in her relationship, stressed because of her husband™s retirement and lost pension, and now lacks motivation to look for a part time job after her heart attack. Sally hasn™t been given the proper tools to aid her in losing weight and eating healthier, finding intimacy in her marriage again, and gaining the motivation to get out of the house and look for a job. The factors that may have contributed the ineffectiveness of this approach is her lack of family support, she has no social life, and she lacks self confidence due to being overweight. Complementary and Alternative Medicine A complimentary approach that can be implemented and prove to effectively manage Sally™s condition would be acupuncture. Acupuncture has been used alongside standard medical treatment for heart attack patients and has been proven effective in both treating and preventing heart disease.
