Critical_Analysis_Final.docx Southern New Hampshire University Critical Analysis œMe Talk Pretty One Day ENG-122 Due by: 23 August 2020 "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris tells an ambiva... lent story about his experience with a foreign school and the strange teaching method that his teacher used. The story took place in France, at Alliance Francaise. David and his classmates went through a frightening semester, where they encountered a new teaching method that left them perplexed. The author's chief purpose was for the audience to have an open mind about learning a new language in an unfamiliar environment. To support his purpose, he used emotions, the students™ encounters with the teacher, and their newly rendered understanding of her methods. The intent of "Me Talk Pretty One Day" was to teach a lesson to the audience. The moral of the story was to keep an open mind when being in a foreign learning environment. David taught this lesson by showing a change of heart at the end of his story. The class had multiple encounters with the teacher, which ranged from insults to sarcastic remarks. These encounters throughout the story conveyed how the entire class felt about the teacher and how they truly feared her. An encounter Sedaris included was when the teacher interrogated a Polish woman. The woman introduced herself to the class and mentioned what her likes and dislikes were. The teacher replied, "How very interesting.
