They are responsible of examining and analyzing information prepared by accountants and make decisions based on that information. It is no easy task as it requires a lot of attention to detail and the ability to review data and make decisions for the company. Their main responsibility is the financial health of the company, not only short-term but long-term as well. It is important to emphasize that financial managers™ jobs are not to ensure bills are paid, but to maximize profits and evaluate risks. Financial managers make decisions in regard to investments (capital budgeting decisions), how to finance those investments (capital structure decisions) and how to manage day-to-day operations (working capital management) (Titman, 2018). For example, Amazon launched the Echo (Alexa) and allocated funds to develop the product and to distribute it. Amazon™s financial manager played a big role in that process. Also, since Amazon is such a large retail company the financial manager must make decisions on how to allocate resources during times of high sales volume such as Christmas, so the company maximizes its resources and the inventory turnover is high.
