Ethical Leader Traits I have been fortunate enough to work with a highly ethical leader within a la... boratory setting, we will refer to her as ‘Jane. Jane has work for this highly developed healthcare system where she has been instrumental in expanding precision medicine, improving patient outcomes. The two traits that Jane demonstrated well are value driven decision-making and encouraged initiative. While under Janes leadership she was known for being thorough when making decisions that had vast impact throughout the healthcare system. She was careful at setting expectations on how she made the final determination for large scale decisions. She required input from all impacted parties, to ensure decisions were ‘for the common good. She understood that not all changes can be positive changes for everyone involved but wanted to ensure the least harm. Through this mindset, she provided and encouraged a safe place where ideas could be discussed in a transparent, non-threatening manner (effectively encouraging initiative). This allowed her direct reports to establish a voice of change within her departments and rewards those willing to implement improved processes which impacts the overall quality of care provided to her patients.
