A nursing theory that has greatly influenced my values and goals is the Self-care Deficit Nursing Theory by Dorothea Orem. Dorothea Orem was born in the year 1914 to a construction worker and a homemaker. She completed her nursing studies in the year 1945 with a Master of Science in nursing. During her course of practicing as a nurse, educator and mentor, she earned several Honorary Doctorate degrees of science.
