In this video the teacher is assessing the students by allowing them to interact with one another and match parts of a sentence. She created this assessment after previously teaching these concepts to the students. In his assessment, the teacher had the students work together to match parts of a sentence, then decide if the sentence was a simile, personification, metaphor, or hyperbole. The teacher was assessing if the students retained the knowledge of what each of these types of sentences were. By using this type of assessment, the teacher was able to see which students needed further assistance with the concepts and which students had mastered them. B1.a This assessment was appropriate for the learning environment because it allowed the teacher to not only assess their level of knowledge on the topic, but also worked on the students interactions with one another. The teacher was able to identify which students excelled with the lesson and which would need further assistance as well as allow the students to enjoy their review of the lesson. B1.b I believe this teachers assessment worked quite well, however I think she could have taken the students feelings and personalities into consideration a bit more. This is due to the students that would “assist†in finding the answer even though their classmate was still thinking it over.
