Smith RN., she is the hospitals educator and works with the JCAHO department with mock visits and actual visits to fix any problems noted during evaluations ·One of the most relevant issues that she spoke of was the time frame. JCAHO surveys on an 8-5-time frame so no evaluations are taking place at night. She believed that this was an error and policies could be followed very loosely by the shifts that are not being evaluated. ·The second most relevant issue we discussed was the readiness of the hospital and staff when preparing for JCAHO. Rules that are set in place that should be followed continuously and only refreshed during JCAHO readiness are being retaught and set in place again each time. ·JCAHO had completed a mock survey for this facility years before and it had been discussed that the methods of contact and interviewing faculty and staff should be monitored and dispersed evenly in each department; the leadership team, however, decided otherwise. They favored the units that had staff members that were vey polished on all the policies, but Mrs. S.
