u05a01_DiagnosticSkillApplication1.doc COUN 5107 Unit 5: Diagnostic Skill Application 1 COUN 5107- Principles of Psychopathology and Diagnosis Unit 5: Diagnostic Skill Application 1 This paper will focus on case studies with two different clients. The clients names are Jenny and Marisol. Readers will be presented with both clients concern based on information from each client. A differential diagnosis will be included for each client based on the DSM-5. A symptom checklist will be presented for Jenny and Marisol. Relevant assessment tools will be utilized with each client. Systemic assessments will be chosen and used with each client to help with presenting issues. Next, DSM and ICD and Z codes will be provided and an explanation for the diagnosis will be included. Finally, readers will be informed if medication consultation is necessary for each client. Presenting Concerns: Case of Jenny Jenny is a 29-year-old single Caucasian woman who currently lives with her mother, Barbara. She identifies as bisexual and she is not currently involved with anyone. She recently was in a relationship with a man and they lived together for a short period of time. They decided to end the relationship and Jenny moved out to stay with her mother. Her ex-boyfriend now needs a roommate to help cover Jennys share of the rent. Jenny currently works as a bank teller and makes decent money. She believed that moving back home would allow her to provide extra money to cover her mothers expenses.
