There is a lot of thought and insight that Zinsser provides in the book. I have a list of ideas/thoughts below that would assist me in elevating my writing skills. Zinsser talks about seven writing principles specifically, transaction, simplicity, clutter, style, the audience, words, and usage. The purpose of writing is to communicate. Precise and concise words are the key to better communication. Zinsser states it is vital to ensure that each sentence is constructed using clean & clear words and bring simplicity to your writing. It also means that there should be less clutter in these sentences. Any word that is not required in a sentence should be removed. If it is longer, then it should be shortened. Every word that either is not useful or can be creatively modified to convey a stronger message is essential in writing. In the future age of computers, many tools are available that might assist in some of the above areas. However, it is still essential for the writer to eventually ensure that the overall message is being delivered through writing. Zinsser also provides some insights into how to use the writing skills in your own organization/business.
