GB512_Unit5_Journal.docx GB-512 Unit One Journal – Zinsser and Your Writing Purdue Global University- GB512: Business Communications Unit One Journal – Zinsser and Your Writing The... fifth journal entry captures some of my thoughts on my writing skill progress and thoughts on Thomass video. One change that I have noticed in my writing skill is the use of precise and concise sentences. Avoiding unnecessary words like ‘very, ‘extremely, etc. It does not provide any information to the user. I am now writing with more vigor than ever before, thanks to Zinssers writing principles and the art of business writing. When writing, I now have more clarity and honesty than ever before in my thought processes. I have minimized using ‘but and ‘however as Thomas mentions in his video. There are cases where it is unavoidable to use them. My topic sentences have improved. They are less cluttered and more direct with a clear message. I am still working on further improving myself in information selection especially when there is a lot of research material. As Thomas points out in the video, less is more when it comes to information sharing with the reader through writing, though relevant supporting information must be provided. I have started using the sectional or bin approach, especially when writing a paper. While researching, I write relevant information from various papers/journals into the section, which might better support that paragraph or section.
