IT332__unit_3_assignment.docx IT-332 IT332-01 Principles of Information Systems Architecture Purdue University Global The inner working of a computer is the hardware, BIOS or UEFI, kernel, and User Space. The main board is known as the motherboard with one or more processor, RAM, device controllers, and extension slots for option boards. Among the controllers are IDE, parallel ATA, SCSI and serial ATA for connecting storage devices. The hardware alone is not able to perform task without a corresponding piece of software. A (CPU) is the central processing unit circuitry for a computer that carries out instruction of a computer. A dual-core processor had two cores while a quad-core processor had four. The multiple cores allow the computer to execute multiple process at the same time. But more cores do not mean they are faster. Memory is known as storage, primary storage, main storage, primary memory, internal storage, main memory, and RAM are all used interchangeable. Memory is the computer part that holds data and instructions for processing. A bus is the pathway for digital signals to move data. There are three internal buses with a processor, the data bus, address bus, and control bus. Together they make up the system bus [ CITATION Sco16 \l 1033 ]. The system bus intended to connect the processor with internal hardware devices. This is called the local bus sometimes referred to as the memory bus. The processor is divided into three categories. It gather necessary program data to be processed.
