2_2_Final_Project_Milestone_One_169_.docx 2-2 Final Project Milestone One: Critical Analysis Portfolio and Presentation Proposal Southern New Hampshire University IDS 402: Wellness Introduction Wellness is defined as the œthe active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.(What is Wellness? 2019) Wellness should start at home and should be a state of mind that is passed down. However, we have an issue that plaques our adolescents at significant rates. Childhood Obesity is an issues that we need to start addressing because it puts children and adolescents at risk of poor health. It takes a village to help combat childhood obesity and it should not only happen at home, but schools have to play their part as well. Since childhood obesity rates continue to climb school are implementing programs to help with the problem. Schools have started to serve more healthy choices in the lunch rooms. They have also limited the availability of unhealthy foods and sugary drinks. Lens Connections History Childhood Obesity is not a new issues that plaques our children. It has been around for decades and has been on the rise. Little was known about childhood obesity till the first national survey was conducted in 1963. In a study conducted near Dayton, Ohio the BMI of 1,116 children who were born between 1930 and 1993 delivered some of our first results about the effects of childhood obesity.
