Report for Experiment #13 Simple Harmonic MotionIntroduction The purpose of this experiment to study simple harmonic motion and oscillation using glider on an air track with springs attached on eac ... h side. For Investigation 1, we found the position and time of equilibrium to calculate the value of k. In Investigation 2, we did the same thing as the previous investigation but this time with weight magnets attached to each side of the glider. We use the result to find the period (T). Investigation 1 Setup & Procedure We are provided with a glider, an air track and two springs. First we measure the mass of the glider and place it on the air track. We then attach the springs to each side of the glider and turn on the air supply. We move the glider no more than 1cm from the center and start recording the data for 30 seconds. The recording is done by using a sensor which shows then uses the program PASCO Capstone to display the data. We repeat this first part but this time moving the glider to around the 40cm mark.
