Some companies still seem to struggle with it, and allow it to happen like General Motors, but some are really going the extra mile to protect their employees. One solution that comes to mind is the company I work for. My company is on the correct side of this ethical dilemma, one thing I see a lot is diversity. I think it is very important to have different races and culture in a workplace to let everyone feel welcomed. When people are applying for a position with your company and they see that you keep diversity at the forefront, they are more likely to come work for you.
