Introduction My name is Argelio Cruz, my friends call me Al. I have been a firefighter for 34 years the last 32 in the Miami Dade County Fire-Rescue Department. The first two were in the City of Pembroke Pines. I got hired as a firefighter back in 1987. I was the outstanding recruit in the City of Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue. When I came over to Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue again, I was my classs outstanding recruit. I was also Firefighter of the year in the State of Florida in 2006. I rose through the ranks from a firefighter, to paramedic, to Lieutenant, then Captain, and finally to my current rank of Chief Fire Officer. Im currently working as Airport Fire Chief at Miami International Airport. I also served as Union President / Vice President for 6 years as well. I am in my last year with Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue; I must retire by October 31 of 2021. Include an overview of how you perceive yourself professionally. A professional image is everything when you are in Fire service professional. I consider myself a true professional that maintains a professional image at all times, clean-cut, adequately dressed, and ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
