They all are centered around the EHR or electronic health record. Using EHRs and HIS systems have both pros and cons but were made for overall convenience for all healthcare providers. There are four main concepts to go over when implementing a HIS. You need to consider the usability, interoperability, scalability, and compatibility. When wanting to implement a HIS it is important to think of how user friendly it will be or the usability of it. If the HIS is user friendly it will be easier to implement in a facility and less time will be used in the teaching of the system. A user-friendly system can increase patient care time and patient satisfaction as well as health care providers trust and confidence in the system. On the other hand, a system that is not user friendly can increase computer time and frustration and decrease patient care time. When thinking about the interoperability it is important to note how easy will it be to exchange information with other hospitals or organizations to assist in patient care. If a HIS system has great interoperability that can help exchange an abundance of information between departments or two separate facilities it will make things easier and save time when transferring information.
