Burke et al. describe anti-oppressive practice as a dynamic process based on the intricate changing patterns of social relations (2002). Our clients will not exist in a linear world but will instead come from disadvantaged groups with many intersections in their lives. As social workers, we are charged with the moral and ethical responsibility to challenge discrimination, prejudice, and inequity in our society. Not only do we fill the role of counselor, but often we find ourselves advocating for the fundamental rights and needs of society's forgotten people.
