C304 Task 2.docx Ethical Principle Application Task 2 A1. Describe how you would respond to Mr. Newcombs request. I have never worked in a long-term setting, but I can say I have formed relationships with patients and their family members over short periods of time. If, in this case, I had a patient ask me this kind of request as Mr. Newcomb has, I would initially be taken aback. I think it would be hard for me to formulate a response to his request. Yes, in this scenario Mr. Newcomb is dying and I think anyone would want to meet all of their needs if able. In this case after time to think I would find a way to explain to him that this is inappropriate and that I would be unable to help him with his request. Yes, this would be me bringing in my own beliefs into my career, but I could not support this. Especially knowing his wife visits him constantly. And lying to her is not an option in my opinion.
