C791 Nursing Informatics - Task 1.docx C791 TASK 1: NURSING INFORMATICS Crystal Fortenberry Western Governors University C791 TASK 1: NURSING INFORMATICS All healthcare organizations have one goal, which is to provide the patient with the best quality care. Even so, it is anticipated that errors and mistakes will happen. And there are various reasons as to why. To identify these anticipated errors and mistakes, and to avoid negative impacts on patients, Nursing Informatics (NI) and Health Information Systems (HIS) are used to collect and analyze data regarding the quality of care being provided (Acrobatiq, 2019). The history of nursing informatics involves the identification of the specialty in 1992, the first release of the scope of practice in 1994, the standards of practice in 1995, the combination of the two publications and the release in 2001. Since then, the publications were revised in 2008. And a final draft was completed in 2014 (R2, 2015). The ANA defines Nursing Informatics as “the specialty that integrates nursing science with multiple information and analytical sciences to identify, define, manage, and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in nursing practice†with a goal of improving health (R2, 2015, p. 2). The collected data is processed into information. And the information becomes knowledge. This knowledge is used to understand a situation, apply actions, and predict a possible outcome. And wisdom is knowing how and when to use knowledge to solve problems (R2, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
