NTB1 Classroom Management, Engagement and MotivationTask 3 NTB1 Classroom Management, Engagement and Motivation: Task 3 Western Governors University A.Philosophical Statement I strongly feel that all students want to be successful and can be if shown the right path. Students should do what they feel is right when it comes to the classroom, this means they make their own decisions based on their own thoughts or feelings. The class is about students and helping them to achieve their goals in school and other aspects of life. As teachers it is our responsibility to show them the path to success, and that starts with how we interact with them. We can show them all the ways to be successful and assist them along the way. In order for the student to grow into a strong and self-sufficient person we need to give them the opportunity to make life decisions themselves. When we show them support, encouragement, listen to them, acceptance, respect, and negotiate differences it will drive them to yearn to do the same and make the choice themselves, just like Glasser states in his Choice Theory(Gabriel and Matthews 2011). Everyone wants to be accepted in all aspects of life. As teachers it is our job to not only teach them lessons in school but also teach them how to understand and make the correct choices in life. B. Classroom Expectations and Rules A classroom expectation that I feel is important is respect for others and ourselves. I would use the Show and Tell method by(Killian, 2014).
